Your First Étude

Every musician starts with scales. Every coder starts with practice logs. Your journey begins with a simple three-step process that builds the foundation for everything that follows.

1

Clone the Repository

Start by cloning the hello-orchestra repository. This is your practice space, your blank sheet music, your canvas for learning.

git clone https://github.com/opencodeorchestra/hello-orchestra.git
cd hello-orchestra
2

Create Your Practice Log

Duplicate the PRACTICE_LOG.md template into /practice/yourname.md. This becomes your personal practice journal.

cp PRACTICE_LOG.md practice/yourname.md
3

Make Your First Entry

Fill out one practice log entry. Your first commit is your first note in the orchestra. Document what you learned, what confused you, and what you want to explore next.

git add practice/yourname.md
git commit -m "First practice log entry"

Remember: Your first commit is your first note. Every failure is a lesson. Every log is a score.

Support the Orchestra

Patreon isn't exclusive access, it's early access. It's the rehearsal room: raw ideas, failures, pivots. All main objectives are free. Patreon gates compression, not success.

By supporting us on Patreon, you get early access to:

  • Raw, unfiltered practice sessions and failure analysis
  • Behind-the-scenes development of new teaching methods
  • Direct input on curriculum development
  • Exclusive community discussions and Q&A sessions

Important: All core learning objectives and tools remain completely free. Patreon supporters get timing advantages, not knowledge advantages. Success is available to everyone.
